I read this for the "Orange On The Cover" part of my 2020 reading challenge. I loved it, the artwork was simple and cute and the ants were hilarious. I really enjoyed that they were Carpenter ants and wore hard hats.

Hall's illustrations are strongly reminiscent of Eric Carle's best work, with bright colors and angular shapes. He even tips a hat to The Very Hungry Catepillar by making the holes in the tree stump actual holes in the pages.
