The plot of this book is so reminiscent of A.S. Byatt's wonderful book Possession that I couldn't help but compare the two all the way through. Byatt wins hands down

The book jumps between 2009 and 1849 and the readers are treated to two sweet love stories. The ending was a little rushed. There were some loose ends that I would have liked to see tied up. Overall, a great read!

I loved everything about this novel. Each of the dual time frames had interesting plots and characters. I've always been fascinated by the pre-Raphaelite period and artists. It was a perfect summer read.

A fun dual-narrative Gothic novel full of romance, an old house, art history, family secrets, and a mystery to solve. Bonus: an ending that ties up most of the loose ends yet allows the reader to draw some of their own conclusions. I love…
I enjoyed learning about the pre-Raphaelite movement. After reading the book, I looked up some of the painters in old art history books, and I will go look at what the Art Institute has.
