This is a great prequel to the chronicles of Narnia. The story goes first chronologically but was the second to last that was written. It gave a good origin story for the white witch, the wardrobe, and all of Narnia.

"The Magician's Nephew" was not the first book that C.S. Lewis wrote for his classic Chronicles of Narnia; but its story is first chronologically, and it often appears first in omnibus editions of the Chronicles. So, as I set out to…

"The Magician's Nephew" is the beginning of "The Chronicles of Narnia"; a beautifully allegorical series of 7 books by C.S. Lewis. In this first installment, we find that Digory and Polly discover, Nothing, until it becomes something when…

The audiobook was good, and if it's the same reader, I'll probably move on to the second book. Yes, I know the whole thing is an allegory, but I'm choosing to ignore that and just enjoy the story. I owned the books as a kid, but never…

Another great Narnia story. “The Magician’s Nephew” discusses the origins of Narnia and some of the things that are part of “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” story. I still think the latter is my favorite, but this one is great as…

I have always loved The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe but hadn't read The Magician's Nephew in many years. I enjoyed rediscovering the story of how humans first encountered Narnia and the origins of key things that come into play in…

I have always loved The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe so I was curious about this story. It did not disappoint. This is a sort of origin story for how Narnia came into existence.

I enjoyed this book because it was interesting and exciting. I found out that this was the book where all things in Narnia started and the book before the lion, the witch and the wardrobe.

Beautiful classic. There are some dark themes in this children's story, but I agree with Matthew de la Pena's essay for Time Magazine, "Why We Shouldn't Shield Children from Darkness":…

The Magician's Nephew is a wonderful prequel to The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. This book tells the tale of a boy and girl who travelled to Narnia and met Aslan and the evil witch long before the four children did. I really enjoyed…

This is an excellent article which seems to summarize Lewis' true meaning of the series: http://www.crisismagazine.com/2017/c-s-lewiss-magicians-nephew

I'm irked that the publisher calls this the first book in the Narnia series, since it originally was published later than the others. Upon re-reading it I can see it could work as a gentle, fairy-tale-like introduction to the series. But…

An old-time classic, The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis is my favourite of the Narnia series. Polly meets Digory, the nephew of her next door neighbour, and while Polly has always considered Digory’s uncle odd, she never expected to be…
