I enjoyed this look into rural Minnesota and the adventures of Virgil Flowers. This is not a spoiler, but there is a serious flaw in the plot towards the end - surprising that neither the editor nor pre-publication readers noticed it. I…

This is my second Virgil Flowers novel and I am liking the character. He seems to be pretty offbeat for a high level law officer, but it does give him a different 'persona' than the usual cop/FBI agent. I found the book a little slow…

Pretty good. Something a little different . It is just too long and drawn out, and drags in the middle. A lot of boring stuff like eating in diners, driving around , staking out in cars etc. At 418 pages of small print, it could have…

You can always count of Virgil Flowers to provide action, plot twists, and witty remarks. There was, thankfully, less sex in this one than previous installments but plenty of blood, explosions, and suspense. I appreciate not having to hear…

The mystery drags on a bit too long. Found myself began to fast read the last two chapters after realizing the "new clues" kept on coming. As it turned out, one of the two unknowns turned out to be an overlooked scheme that should have…

I have read all of Sandford's novels twice and a few of them, three times. I'll probably read them all again in the future. Lucas Davenport, Virgil Flowers, Del Capslock, Shrake, Jenkins, Marcy Sherrell et al are my ALL TIME favorite…

Like Sandford's "Prey" series, this one is about as close to a sure bet as you'll find. If you follow the series, it's like reading about old friends & although each can be read as stand alone novels, you get much more out of it if you…

I think Sanford is one of the best writers around. I find him far superior to James Patterson. Looking forward to his next Davenport novel.
