A whacky offbeat comedy (and a sort of sideways homage to John Cage) about what happens when a piece of conceptual music gets out of hand (and seems to sprout magical powers over one obnoxious policeman who hates music). Hilarious in a weirded-out sort of way, and the soundtrack needs to be heard with or without the visuals. There's also a couple of extra music videos, of the same substance as the soundtrack. Great stuff.

With dull conformity coming up against artistic narcissism, "Sound of Noise" is ostensibly a social comedy. Images of heavily armed SWAT teams rounding up street musicians as if they were terrorists and Warnebring’s selective deafness cancelling out anything he doesn’t want to hear would certainly point in that direction. But the humour is too broad and the satirical digs too clumsy to elicit more than a few opening chuckles before it all falls flat. Sometimes silence really is golden.

Unusual, poetic and downright funny at times. Not for Hollywood-action-packed-B films afficionados...

I like quirky stuff. Good idea for a film.

Quirky European comedy. Even better the second time through. Great movie about guerilla concert series. very inventive

Don't watch this movie expecting reality, it's just great fun to watch how creative and imaginitive people can be. It makes you feel like a kid again when everything is full of mystery and wonder and potential.

If you've ever dreamed of making music with every day implements, this movie will fulfil that desire. The romantic subplot manages to be sillier than the absurd plot.

I suppose the right person might enjoy the quirkiness and magic realism of this film, but that person is not me.
