On the ashes of the Great Library of Alexandria stands its descendent, the Bibliotheca Alexandria, which remains unharmed thanks to Egypt's people. In 2011, protesters took to the streets to fight for their rights, but as it is with most demonstrations, miscreants sought trouble. Wanting to protect a place of freedom, and cultural pride, many people rallied around the library. This encouraging tale makes one's heart swell with pride. The socio-economic, and political elements of the revolution are kept to a minimum, this means that the book is idealistic when compared to the actual situation, but as this is a book for young children with a focus on a laudable action, it is understandable that the author wished to avoid delving too deeply into this. While the exact nature of the protests is not included within the main body of the text, some information is provided in the back, along with more details and resources on the two libraries. A wide assortment of patterned cut and pasted paper and fabrics, always keeps the idea of "books" in the back of our minds. Books, and the knowledge they contain, are for the people, and the library, which is a symbol and bastion for the people's rights, is worth defending.

The young people of Egypt wanted a peaceful protest. When it turned violent, and the Library of Alexandria was threatened, protestors joined hands around it to protect it. Picture-book format, with colorful pictures.
