A playful account of the author and illustrator's use of technology, psychic readings, and other measures to track the adventures of a beloved prodigal cat reveals the unexpected things they learned.

McMillan Palgrave

What do our pets do when they're not with us? Caroline Paul and Wendy MacNaughton used GPS, cat cameras, psychics, and the web to track the adventures of their beloved cat Tibia.

A Finalist for the 26th Lambda Literary Award

Caroline Paul was recovering from a bad accident and thought things couldn't get worse. But then her beloved cat Tibia disappeared. She and her partner, illustrator Wendy MacNaughton, mourned his loss. Yet weeks later, Tibia waltzed back into their lives. His owners were overjoyed. But they were also...jealous? Betrayed? Where had their sweet anxious cat disappeared to? Had he become a swashbuckling cat adventurer? Did he love someone else more? His owners were determined to find out.

Using GPS technology, cat cameras, psychics, the web, and animal communicators, the authors of Lost Cat embarked on a quest to discover what their cat did when they weren't around. Told through writer Caroline Paul's rich and warmly poignant narrative and illustrator Wendy MacNaughton's stunning and hilarious 4-color illustrations, Lost Cat is a book for animal lovers, pet owners, and anyone who has ever done anything desperate for love.

Very comical book for those of us who love our kitties and want them to love us and much as we love them. This author is a hoot, she lays her soul bare in her effort to understand her kittie's brief sojourn away from her home. This is a therapy book for all of us who look at the silly thinks we do for our kitties to make them happy and then realize they will go with whoever feeds them. Sigh.

This was a sweet, funny, and relatable story for any cat lover. When Caroline's cat goes missing, her true crazy cat lady emerges, unleashing desperation, love, and new found tech and social skills. I quick read, which lovely illustrations by Caroline's partner.

Any kitty lover can appreciate Caroline Paul's humor, devotion and manic-depressive curiosity when it comes to ascertaining her feline's whereabouts. (Warning: If you don't like animal memoirs where a pet dies, skip a couple of the middle chapters. In this case it is not the title character, but it's still touching and emotional.)

Sweet, funny little story of a missing kitty and the two women who love him and wonder where on earth he goes when he leaves home, only to return looking like he'd spent time at a spa. We had a cat like that once and we wondered, too!

Full of charming illustrations, this is a wonderful (and quick) read about a woman doing everything she can think of to try to figure out where her cat has been after he suddenly reappears 5 weeks after going missing. I smiled, laughed, and I’m not ashamed to say that I also cried like a baby.

I loved both the charming illustrations and the story in this sweet little book about a woman who is bed-ridden, and so has the time to wonder - where does the cat disappear to all day?

This is a super fast read, but a perfect, amusing, sweet and laugh out loud funny book to read when you have a spare hour here or there. The illustrations are hilarious and the writing quick and quirky. For anyone who has wondered about the secret thoughts and lives of their pets, this funny little book is a gift.
