This is the most immoral and unethical movie I think I have ever seen. Efron is not particularly effective in this role. Quaid is good, but why he would consent to do this movie is beyond comprehension.

The characters in this drama were underdeveloped, and some were there for questionable reasons. And I was not sure of the likability of most of them. Quaid's performance was forced. Overall a very so-so film.

I thought it was a good movie if a father trying to make is son just like him and they fall apart than start kind of getting along until one mistake sad mistake happens didn't see that coming. Give it a try ending is very sad not a happy ending

Contains spoiler. An unattractive look at unconditional love. Quaid is pretty creepy. I will assume that is good acting. It seemed stupid to hide the body. A claim of self defense with no witnesses would have made it tough to convict the kid. Maybe Quaid was trying to lock his son into staying on the farm. Loving parent or crafty manipulator?

I dug this, but I wish they would've gone even further and just made it as a sweeping, brooding melodrama set around the turn of the century. Like with storm clouds and lush orchestral score - the works.

It seems as though if you can get away with murder, breaking contracts, adultery and lying then everything is OK. Not a good message to be offering the viewer

it really was a weird movie. was the kid really that messed up because of his dad wanting him to take over the corn farm? why did he freak out racing, if thats what he always wanted. why did she sleep with the son- to get back at the father for still being with his wife? lots of things happening in this movie that dont go anywhere, or really have a point.

this movie was a mess and a waste. the characters, plot and dialogue were contrived and lame. Quaid was creepy. Graham was sleazy. Efron was the spoiled kid who always did what he wanted and got what he wanted. this was the male version of the movie Mildred Pierce" from 1945 but certainly not as good as that movie.
