This is not a terrible low-budget film, but it does lack the memorable lines, characters and huge viewing audience necessary to earn a place in our collective experience as a cult classic. The original Blues Brothers or Paul are far more successful in the genre of crazy chase movies.
This is a must see! Not for kids.
Good performances by lead actors Scott Speedman and Wes Bentley (who was in fact a true heroin addict at the time and now recovering) but a ridiculously weak story that was difficult to tolerate.
This film contains, drug addiction and overdose, Satanic ritualism, blackmail by a drug lord, breaking and entry, violence, kidnapping/hostage taking, a midget security guard and a band of medieval midgets , impalement, and yet, remains touching, light-hearted and not one bit morbid.
It's a black comedy set in northern Ontario (as a Canadian I especially loved the Canadian specific things that American's and the Brits might not understand or simply laugh at in a "hahaha silly Canadians" kind of way) about 3 close friends who's suddenly encounter a series of outrageous Kafkaesque-ish situations all in a 2 day span.
