In this wry German dark comedy, Walter is a professional hitman who has just botched a job. Forced to leave the city, he takes up an offer from eccentric crime boss Berger to protect his house (and young, pretty, free-spirited wife Sybille) in a remote region of the Carpathian Mountains. At Walter's side is Micky, his chatty, thrill-seeking old friend. After a freak accident, what seemed to be a nice, easy holiday job for the hapless pair soon becomes a comically nightmarish fight for survival.

My favorite film. Why? 1) Beautiful scenery. 2) Very dark humor. 3) A ginormous old house (in real life, it's an old lunatic asylum). 4) How the story ends. 5) Reiner Schone. 6) The unusual soundtrack by an obscure Canadian band...but it's perfect for the film. 7) Etc. On the matter of this film being "similar" to "Fargo"...uh, yeah, there's snow in both films. That's the only similarity. This film is way better than Fargo.

Agree w/ previous reviewer. Kind of like the duller imitation of Fargo.

“Snowman’s land” -- Criminals kinda stranded in a winter outback full of snow. Ha Ha get it? A play of words for "no man’s land." Unfortunately, this title, may be the high point of this movie of hit men waiting for who knows what? I’m not sure I ever figured out what they were supposed to do for their money out there. Mildly entertaining. Maybe less than mild. Somebody suggested this movie was sort of like “Fargo.” Maybe if you were completely on drugs and hallucinating, it might seem to be that good.
