A magnificent compilation of a variety of maps from ancient Greece up to Google Earth. Most maps are presented over four pages. The first two pages show the whole map and text explains the origin, purpose, and creator of the map. The subsequent two pages zoom in on a few highlights of the map to explain its significance, originality or art. The book concludes with an index but lacks a bibliography or list of relevant internet sites.

A wonderful look at maps past and present, delving into detail - highly recommended for the curious!
