Really a history of sports in the TV age. Al started when there was no 24 hour news cycle that had to be fed, or else people would dial away. Shows how unsophisticated the industry/technology was in a period not that long ago.As pktab states, he was at the center of some remarkable times in sports history, and a lot of Americans shared those minutes with him. Al confirms what I have heard/suspected about Howard Cosell.

I originally got this book for my husband to read. He's been an avid sports enthusiast since growing up in Chicago. He really enjoyed the book.
I, too, have always like Al Michaels no matter which sport he is broadcasting. Not getting into sports until much later in life, Al Michaels has been a center piece in some very memorable moments, i.e. the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics USA hockey team vs the Russian team. "Do you believe in miracles?!!" Also, Al Michaels was broadcasting when we were watching the 1989 World Series and the earthquake happened.
There's so much more!! Really enjoyed the book!
