Great book, loved the way it was told, but it could've been a little longer and the ending was kind of abrupt. I loved it anyways.

This is a short novella in companion to the Selection series. It is told in Queen Amberley’s point of view. It tells the story of her and king Clarkson’s journey through the selection and how they became to be husband and wife. It is perfect for those who need more of the Selection series and want to read about different characters.

Truth to be told, I did not know if The Queen was about Amberly or America before I read it. As I am a nice person, I will tell those reading this that it is about the former queen. It talks all about her life beginning just before she gets chosen as one of the Selected. I also didn't know that she came from Honduragua (I Think), and grew up with horrible working conditions. That really put things into perspective, how someone who went through so much could still have a soft, loving heart. For those who haven't read the actual series, I will not spoil anything. But for those who do, all I can say it is no surprise what ends up happening to her. It is really only a matter of how. 5/5 stars.

This was alright then I remembered the main love interest turns into a controlling abusive husband.

I loved this novella so much. I felt that the selection series left out soo much about Queen Amberly's life. This novella helped me to appreciate her so much more, and make me miss Maxon and America even though they didn't even exist when the story was told.
