I am surprised to learn that this was a TV mini series- Bizarre tv. Odd characters move awkwardly through a beautiful channel-side landscape. P'tit Quinquin and Eve are superb - so caring and thoughtful of eachother in spite of (or because of) the cold, exhausted world the adults inhabit - which p'tit and his buddies seem well on their way to fitting into. My literature professor would have made much of the palsied, jerking movements and distorted faces of so many of the townsfolk - mark of the devil. & then there's mad cows & the motorcycle helmet guy, the marching band with multigenerational majorettes... fascinating TV. 2discs, no extras.

If you like:
1. Pieter Bruegal (16th Century Flemish painter of peasants)
2. David Lynch (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet)
3. Luis Bunuel (Los Olvidados. Milky Way)
4. Lars Von Trier (the Idiots)
