Great Movie! It's shows what the average person doesn't see what happens across the US-Mexico Border. Allegedly based on true events? This movie packs a punch with gut wrenching drama & action. Mature viewing recommended.

Gripping look at the drug wars in the USA. Excellent performances all around but the stand outs were Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro. Worth watching.

'Orchestrated violence' comes to mind as a descriptor. By this I mean that what will make the film exciting to most is the violence. To that end, the setting is for the most part related to the notoriously violent Mexican drug world. Our tour guide is a young female FBI agent who has somewhat against her inclination, but with an understandable desire to bring bad guys to justice, joined the team. Add to this near babe in the woods situation the del Toro character, who, we gradually learn, has no small score to settle. An actor on another film, when asked at a conference, what viewers should take away, said (in effect) 'it's a good ride'. You could say the same here if an update Dirty Harry is worth a look. Movies are better than ever. The four word phrase that puts 'Make my day' in the shade might be what you remember.

Nearly a docu-drama [just add a few titles and voice-over narration], it's for viewers who enjoy tension. The subject matter and matter-of-fact delivery produce it all the way thru.
Emily Blunt seems to be the new Jodie Foster [don't mess with me feminist], only Blunt lacks the range of Foster- having only three or four notes: grim, irritated grim, frightened grim, and grimacing while smoking.

The opening scene is a bit screwy- they jet down to [near?] Mexico, but have to drive back, with the prisoner, in extreme danger? Uh, why not just jet back, with an attack helicopter escort?

There's a great quote, when Blunt's character's inquiries result in being told, "You're asking how a watch works. For now, just keep track of the time.".
The music[al sound effects] are great: throbbing/menacing white noise that reinforces the overall angst.

Very good movie, high action. This movie would be very appealing to someone who understands the cartel's and the drugs being moved into the USA.

This movie is the most though provoking movie I have ever seen, there is nothing like it. The story line is nothing like I expected. I was also thrown for a loop because I thought Emily Blunt was going to play an Alpha role. Its so provoking because as your watching it the storyline is messed up but you know that's what really happens in really life. the story line in general to the killings. Love how the movie is so casual yet dramatic.

Good movie that delivers some harsh truths about the drug war south of the border. Directed by the Quebecois- Canadian filmmaker Denis Villenueve. Strange how it was shut out of the 2016 Oscars.

This is a terrific movie. All the performances are dynamite -- Blunt, del Toro, Brolin, Kaluuya -- and the film inundates you with this sense of menace and foreboding. The plot has to do with an inter-agency task force surreptitiously (and illegally) crossing the border to execute a drug cartel kingpin. It's pitch perfect.

On Medellin:
Matt: Now, you listen. You went up the wrong tunnel. You saw things you shouldn't have seen.
Kate: What is Medellin?
Matt: Medellin? Medellin refers to a time when one group controlled every aspect of the drug trade, providing a measure of order that we could control. And until somebody finds a way
to convince 20% of the population to stop snorting and smoking that shit, order's the best we can hope for.

Alejandro: You should move to a small town, where the rule of law still exists. You will not survive here. You are not a wolf. And this is the land of wolves now.

The FBI agents:
Dave: She's been leading our kidnap response team for three years. Put her through the grinder since she got here, and she hasn't blinked. She's in the front line. Nobody's gonna be happier than Kate to see these guys go down.
Matt: So, she's a thumper.
Dave: Today was her fifth O.l.S. 5-and-0, not bad for a rookie.
Matt: She never worked cases?
Dave: Been kicking doors since day one.
Matt: I like her already. What about the partner? He seen any action?
Dave: He's only been with us 18 months.
Matt: What's his background?
Dave: He's a sharp kid. ROTC scholarship to Maryland, did a tour in Iraq, got his law degree from UNC. He's green, but he's good.
Matt: No lawyers on this train. Just give me the girl.
