Stranger on a train: A man jokes with a stranger about killing his wife. The stranger wants his own father dead. In theory, each could murder the other's victim. The problem is, the stranger takes the idea seriously.
North by Northwest: An ad executive is mistaken for a spy by foreign agents.
Dial M for murder: Ex-tennis pro Tony Wendice decides to murder his wife for her money and because she had an affair the year before. He blackmails an old college associate to strangle her, but when he dials a Mayfair exchange to set the plot in motion, his right number gets the wrong answer. The postman always rings twice: Illicit lovers botch their first attempt to bump off her husband. They finally pull it off and end up betraying each other at trial. Amorous attractions never proved so fatal.
I confess: A priest hears a killer's confession but is bound by his vows to silence, even when the evidence points to himself as the prime suspect.
Suspicion: Alfred Hitchcock weaves a terrifying web of suspicion around a fragile young English bride and captures a classic suspense thriller. Joan Fontaine is the bride, a gently-reared heiress who fears she has married a murderer. Cary Grant is the husband, a dashing ne'er-do-well with a penchant for the high life--and a bank account that's strictly low-life.
Wrong man: The first Hitchcock film based on a true story. A nightclub musician is falsely accused of a robbery, an accusation that ruins his life.
