I have to agree with previous commenters that the information in this book is what my sex education should have contained! It seems it's easier to just teach a girl to pop the Pill, when she could instead learn how to read her fertility signs and live her life without the side effects from the Pill. On fertile days, either abstain or choose a method that doesn't mess with your whole body!

My one quibble with the book is that the author can get a little wordy; sometimes I wish she'd get to the point faster. But, after the first few chapters, you can skip to the sections relevant to your needs. Also, the whole last third of the book is appendices, so it's not as long as it looks when you first pick it up.

I can not recommend this book enough! I want to scream from the roof tops "if you have a uterus read this book"! I borrowed it from the library and then proceeded to buy it from my local bookstore, I have given it as a gift to most of my friends. This is a valuable read for everything that they didn't teach us in grade 9 health class.

Every woman should take the time to read this book. It is very detailed, with many charts and color pictures, and you can easily skip the sections that are not relevant to you. Not only will you learn about the Fertility Awareness/Natural Family Planning method, you will also learn about possible causes of infertility and how to detect them without expensive tests & exams, and everything you need to know about your menstrual cycle.

This book is suitable for women (and also men -- why not!) of all religious and cultural backgrounds, and while some readers might disagree with the author on certain points, I think she has done a good job at remaining fairly objective as to not marginalize readers based on their religious or moral values.

The principles explained in this book can be applied by women of all ages, regardless of their cycle (even if they have "irregular" ones -- that's the beauty of this method). Many myths are also debunked in the book, and it was in that sense an enlightening read for me. I think the basic principle of the Fertility Awareness/Natural Family Planning method should be taught in school. From what I've been told, it used to be taught within the familial unit, but somewhere along the lines, this knowledge has been lost throughout the most recent generations. I believe that knowledge is power. As such, let's reclaim our feminine power and work not against, but in collaboration with our body!

This book is an absolute must read for anyone wishing to understand their menstrual cycle and fertility potential. For anyone looking to avoid pregnancy without hormones - this is the first step in learning the life changing Fertility Awareness Method.

Information I wished they had taught me back in high school. I've used what I have learned from this book since 2005 to both avoid pregnancy and to get pregnant. Amazing information, I have loaned by book to a lot of friends over the year.

Such a good book! Every woman should read it. I used it successfully for both birth control and conception.

Before I got married, I had been with my boyfriend for about 6 years. I didn't want to take birth control, but I wasn't ready to get pregnant. I was able to do exactly what I wanted.

I have always had irregular periods, so I knew it might be hard to get pregnant. I had been tracking my fertility with the software that goes with this book for almost a year (for birth control) so I was well aware of my signs. The first time we tried, it worked. Once I was pregnant and having an ultrasound, I found out that the reason for my irregular periods was endometriosis. The doctors were shocked that I was able to get pregnant so easily. I credit the knowledge I gained from this book. Without it, I might not have my beautiful 6 month old son!

This book is excellent! Whether you want to conceive, use it for birth control, or to learn more about your gynecological health - this book is a great resource!

The method taught in this book is NOT the same as the "Rhythm" method.

I love this book! It can help you to accurately tell when you're ovulating. You can use the info as a family planning method. When used properly it is very effective!
