Witty dialogue, a fun adventure and a sinister and creepy villain, coupled with character revelations; a Pirate film that is as hilarious as it is at times emotional.

Johnny Depp is always great to watch.

1.5/5 stars. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is a 2017 American swashbuckler film, the fifth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series and the sequel. It is considered to be one of the most expensive films to produce ever, costing an estimated $320 million. This movie is all over the place. The franchise has simply been exhausted, with each subsequent film becoming increasingly worse. It starts off rather interesting with a (visually at least) compelling main villain, but the movie falls apart soon afterward. The characters are thinly developed. Disney introduces us to young new faces in an attempt to breath new life into the dying franchise for years to come. They fail miserably, as I could not empathize with any character that I hadn't already seen in the first two movies. Jonny Depp’s role as Jack Sparrow has been completely worn out, and I pled with Disney not to make any further films to ruin the once beloved character any further. Like any film with the budget, the visual effects are great and the film looks fine. If all you care about is eye-pleasing, mindlessly entertaining movies, go right ahead and watch this one, but I would not recommend it if what you seek is a good film. @Joaquin of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Well DISNEY DESTROY'S Another Great Franchise with there usual PC/AGENDA DRIVEN DRIVEL! Storyline Nonexistant completly stupid, Acting Same most of them ACTED like they didnt want to be there but hey its a PAYCHECK. JOHNNY (Wife Beater) DEPP Drunker then usual, Where was the OUTRAGE on HIM? HMM? Like all the other supposed Star abusers! Anyway such a VERY SAD way for PIRATES to end Expected more should have learned from STAR WARS (Aka STAR JOKE!) :(

I'll be honest, I've seen the other four movies, so I didn't expect much from this 5th installment. What I didn't want or expect was that they went "Star Wars Episode 7" on me. That's one of the worst sins of all cinema history. They literally sold out, re-booked the first movie by adding two characters and had Johnny Depp be his usual self. Still, seeing Depp in the guillotine scene was probably worth an entire star by itself for the absolute absurdity of it all.

Of course, it should be said it's a Disney film and it's mainly for kids though certainly the hint that he had sex with the mayor's wife was a little racy even for this film. Still, I pray in future installments they don't sell out. I mean, this was a "let's re-boot a film and get the profit." Perhaps with a little money, they'll have real writers for the next film, which will involve at least 3 of these characters.

I felt that this movie really brought a satisfying conclusion to the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' film series. Suspenseful, funny, and heartwarming. I liked the new characters/actors. Johnny Depp is always great to watch.

Amazingly, surprisingly adequate.

It was ok. It was pretty confusing though. Also this movie is not really for young kids. It was weird but also interesting.

The first one is the only good one in this franchise. There, I said it.

Decent job for this fifth film of the series. Follows the adventures of an extremely lucky pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow and his faithful crew on yet another romp on the high seas.
As much as some of the antics, go beyond belief, it has amazing special effects and imagination.
Bonus feature on the DVD, has a 6 minute behind-the-scenes with crew member, Gibbs (played by Kevin McNally, one of few that have been in all five films).
Will there be a sixth? It was five years between films of No. 4 and No.5.
