I watched it with an open mind because the last movie I watched with Seth Rogen and James Franco was " This Is the end" i was not impressed so I didn't have high expectations .
But as I watched " The Disaster Artist" it was pretty entertaining and had a wicked soundtrack and funny in subtle ways. And Rotten Tomatoes gave it a fresh rating , therefore couldn't be that bad.

Stinks. Read the book to get a better idea of what went on- Tommy Wiseau was a money launderer for a criminal organization, which makes the film not very endearing or funny- not funny at all in fact.

Real life brothers James and Dave Franco take the leads—Dave playing it straight as the committed but talentless Greg and director James (resembling Vlad the Impaler with an accent like Bela Lugosi suffering multiple strokes) owning every scene as the wildly flamboyant but equally untalented Tommy—while an impressive cast of A and B-listers take up the slack (Seth Rogen is particularly good as the production’s bemused script supervisor and de factor director). But much like "Ed Wood", Tim Burton’s 1995 paean to bad cinema’s best director, Franco manages to elicit laughs and amazement while at the same time remaining respectful to his subjects—so much so that Wiseau and Sestero actually have walk-on cameos and clips of their film appear over the closing credits. Wiseau’s opus may have been an abysmal and misguided stink bomb, but Franco paints the man himself as one having the passionate soul of an artist even if he is shackled with the creative means of a mere vassal.

This film is a take on the true story of the making of the movie “The Room”, dubbed to be the best worst movie ever made. The director and star of the original movie, Tommy Wiseau, is a very elusive man with a mysterious past and a fascinating way of producing film. This movie showcases the behind the scenes of the production of the infamous movie, as well as a tale of friendship, fame, and glory (or lack thereof). James Franco does an amazing performance of Wiseau and the film is incredible compared to the movie that it was based on. I would rate this movie 4.5/5 stars and recommend it to viewer’s of the initial film @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library

Fun Movie! The best part was the end when they show side by sides with the original movie. It's actually pretty amazing that they were able to make a near carbon copy of the original Room movie. If you like dumb comedy this is pretty good also you don't need to have seen the original movie.

It's weird for me to give a movie like this five stars, but... it was exactly as advertised. It was great to see Dave Franco as a lead actor in his own right instead of being in his brother's shadow. And if you stay tuned through to the credits, you'll see a side-by-side, scene-by-scene comparison of the biopic and the original The Room - and you can see how spot-on James Franco's impression of Tommy is.

So bad I fell asleep, then refused to put my self through it again. Much, unnecessary nudity.

It's an okay self-promoting movie.

you have to watch the cult classic "The Room" by Tommy Wiseau first, before you watch this movie or you will not really understand this movie, which is very good by the way!!!! It is based on the book by the same title :"The disaster artist"...and later on was made into a movie. James Franco makes an excellent job playing Tommy Wiseau. I am very pleasantly surprised by this movie. I give a 4 out of 5 star.
