"Life is over in an instant for sixteen-year-old Finn Miller when a devastating car accident tumbles her and ten others over the side of a mountain. Suspended between worlds, she watches helplessly as those she loves struggle to survive. Impossible choices are made, decisions that leave the survivors tormented with grief and regret. Unable to let go, Finn keeps vigil as they struggle to reclaim their shattered lives. Jack, her father, who seeks vengeance against the one person he can blame other than himself; her best friend, Mo, who bravely searches for the truth as the story of their survival is rewritten; her sister Chloe, who knows Finn lingers and yearns to join her; and her mother, Ann, who saved them all but is haunted by her decisions. Finn needs to move on, but how can she with her family still in pieces? Heartrending yet ultimately redemptive, In an Instant is a story about the power of love, the meaning of family, and carrying on...even when it seems impossible.""--Provided by publisher.

I fell so hard for this book. It's unique point of view created a powerful storyline that I enjoyed immensely. Suzanne Redfern is an amazing author. The way she portrayed each character, creating this intricate weave of how our actions affect others and ultimately ourselves, was none other than perfection. I couldn't have asked for a better ending. It's fast paced and the characters are well developed. Read this book!

I liked this story but I have to admit that some of the interpersonal story lines got tedious for me. I think what held it together was the narration by Finn who dies in an accident that injures and strands four members of her family and their dog,her best friend, three family friends and a hitchhiker. Finn's take on what transpires during and after her death is sometimes funny, enlightening, and moving. I especially liked how her invisibility allows her to see interactions she would never have seen alive. She , for instance notices how we all lie about little and big things, how our body language gives away what we try to conceal. The characters were relatable and I felt that the ending was quite beautiful. Definitely put this in a young adult category but I am far from a young adult and I enjoyed it.
