Hans, a foundling raised by a grave robber, helps Countess Angela Gabriela, nearly thirteen, when she is torn away from her dream of being a professional puppeteer by an evil archduke out to destroy her and her parents.

HARPERCOLL

Hans doesn't know who he is or where he came from. When he was a baby, he washed ashore in a wooden box and was adopted by the conniving grave robber, Knobbe the Bent. Now fate has thrown him together with Angela von Schwanenberg, a young countess fleeing for her life from the evil Archduke Arnulf and his dreaded Necromancer. Together, these friends are on a daring quest to discover Hans' true identity and to save Angela's parents from the archduke.

Join Hans and Angela on their grand adventure as they ride through the depths of the great forest, sled down a mountain in a coffin, and sneak along the secret passageways of the archduke's palace. The Grave Robber's Apprentice is a world of highwaymen, hermits, and dancing bears; and of a boy separated from his family by the sea.

In this world anything is possible with luck and imagination—even for a grave robber's apprentice.

Hans is an apprentice to the villainous grave robber who raised him. Now, wishing to discover his true identity, he sets out on a quest and together with the Countess Angela von Schwanenberg, they face danger and adventure.

I really liked this book, because it combines fantasy, suspense and mysteries. I love how they figure stuff out along the way and they go on this big adventure. It requires some quick thinking and it is just the best story.

the thing I liked about the book is that it was action packed, and something was always happening. The thing I didn't like about it is that some parts were confusing, so I didn't know what was happening. But overall it was a great book, and I suggest you read it if you haven't already.

i really liked this book because it always kept you on the edge of the seat, whenever you think everything is OK it isn't. Some parts were a little predictable though, but it was still very shocking when it happened. I did get confused sometimes because of the old English but overall it was very good!

The book was freaking me out because there was a necromancer with with evil beings and the Archduke with iron hands collects his dead wives clothes.

This book was absolutely astounding and witty! I admire the somewhat strong 12 year-old female character as she and her new friend, Hans, travel together on a journey to save her family. A twist on a regular fairytale, but still suspenseful and interesting. Definitely a great read for lovers of adventure!
