Ngaio Marsh brings the 1950's English countryside to life in this funny and clever murder mystery. The picturesque town of Swevenings has its full share of privileged upper-class personalities, but also some likable "commoners". The murder itself is solved by Inspector Alleyn with the help of a cat and a couple of trout.

Personally, I find Marsh's books very similar to Agatha Christie's - but with a bit more complexity, insight, and humor. You'll enjoy this book if you like a well-written, cozy murder mystery.
