One day the father comes home with a brand new Cadillac, and the mother was upset, because she felt the family should be saving money to buy a house. After a terrifying trip down to Mississippi the father realizes that the safety of his family is much more important then a fancy new car and he sells it.

Comment
Add a CommentThe Gold Cadillac by Mildred D. Taylor is a good transition book from Picture book to chapter book. The book is set up almost like a chapter book, but it is a picture book, so it is perfect for children in grades second to fourth. The Gold Cadillac is a good example of how a family should stick together during rough times, even when they do not see eye to eye.
