Once again, Freud uses a child narrator; in this case, a five year old travelling with her sister and mother in Northern Africa in the 1960s. While the book is somewhat interesting (it is autobiographic), it is not credible that a five year old observes the world in this way, no matter how precocious.

A hippie mother travels to Morocco in search of spiritual awakening, her two young daughters in tow. Their often shocking but always fascinating adventures are described through the eyes of the five year old daughter who is the voice of the author in this semi-autobiographical novel.

Although not usually a fan of child narrators, I found this one refreshing, honest and ringing true. An interesting little book that kept me immersed until the conclusion
