DING DONG DING DONG is downright infectious. JAI SRI KRISHNA is a powerful mantra, set to music; in a way, an amplification of MY SWEET LORD. MAYA LOVE is an anthem of assertivity. the title track was written to tour on, and as such, would play before the band came out to play. during the tour, he had hardly a voice left to sing with, but on this cd, it is an attractive voice. on the cover of the album, there's a poignant photo of George with his pal, Peter Sellers (Being There, the Pink Panther, Casino Royale). TRY SOME,BUY SOME is a tune and tale of drug addiction that David Bowie also recorded, a couple of decades later. This collection was underrated. the materialistic critics couldn't handle that George was preaching from a non-monk position in life. I'm editing, later: Try some, buy some was from LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD and was indeed about the travails of substance abuse. SIMPLY SHADY is the similarly sounding tune from this album, DARK HORSE. but, it is about the soap opera-like demise of his marriage with Patty--lost to his mate, Eric Clapton. Interesting stuff, nevertheless.
A very underrated album, mainly because George's voice is not up to par because of illness, but the music and lyrics shine through!
