For the third book in the Aurelio Zen series, Dibdin seems to be channeling a bit of Umberto Eco: nothing is quite as it seems, neither in Zen's murder/suicide/? case and the extra murder/suicide/? additions, nor in his personal life, nor in the Church, nor even in fast-paced and cutthroat world of Milanese high fashion.
