This classic interactive book that has been helping children chase away nighttime fears for 25 years is perfect for Halloween--and all-year round!

Caldecott Award-winner Ed Emberley has created an ingenious way for children to overcome bedtime frights. As kids turn the die-cut pages of this vibrantly illustrated book, they'll watch the Big Green Monster grow before their very eyes. Then, when they're ready to show him who's in charge, they'll turn the remaining pages and watch him disappear!

Ed Emberley's groundbreaking book about mastering fear and emotion through play and imagination has been a bestselling favorite for decades and feels as fresh and innovative today as it did 25 years ago.

During Toddler Storytime I read this book, then followed with a puppet retelling of the story. Big hit. Highly recommended for little kids who might be too afraid of other monster stories.

Be prepared to read and reread it many times!

A progression of cut-out pages form a monster until the middle of the book when the reader sends the monster away bit by bit and page by page. Themes – Colour, Faces, Monsters

Fun read! I love telling the monster to "Go Away!" and watching it disappear.

A great storytime book. Children will enjoy how the pages are cut to reveal the story and will want to help "banish" the monster if encouraged to participate.

A great, fun read to let children know that they have the power to banish monsters. Also a great book for storytime! Works well with toddlers and preschoolers.

One of my all-time favourites for storytime. Encourage participation from the children - it will empower them!
