The host of L.A.'s top-rated radio talk show uses profuse real-world examples from her radio show and her private practice to help women take responsibility for their own happiness

Ask anybody in Los Angeles about "Dr. Laura," and they'll have plenty to say! She's the incredibly popular and controversial psychotherapist who hosts L.A.'s top-rated midday radio talk show on KFI AM 640.
Laura Schlessinger has very strong convictions, and she doesn't hesitate to voice them to callers. She urges women emphatically to lose a domineering jerk of a lover and pick one of the "good guys," to stay home and parent the babies they've made, and to follow that dream rather than some dreamboat. Above all, Dr. Laura exhorts women not to blame anything or anybody but themselves if they're unhappy and their life seems a mess!
Now, at last, Dr. Laura brings her wit, wisdom, and no-holds-barred clinical techniques to the book page. Ten Stupid Things Women Do to Mess Up Their Lives uses real-world examples from her radio show and private practice to drive the message home. And the message is that our reticence to be bold and brave often makes us act like stupid, submissive victims. Once we muster the courage to take responsibility for our own problems, and to tolerate the discomforts of risk, the possibilities for personal growth and joy are limitless.
Ten Stupid Things addresses the reader with such profound (and often outrageously humorous) directness that you'll feel you're having a one-on-one discussion with this Powerhouse of decision-making. You'll experience the "shock of recognition" time after time - whether the topic is trying to force a marital commitment from a man by "turning up pregnant," staying too long in a relationship "made in purgatory," or wondering why love didn't turn out to be enough.
If you're looking for an all-approving hand to hold, you won't find it here. If you're prepared to take a clear-eyed look at your self-diminishing behavior and to make the move to a quality existence, there's no one better than Dr. Laura to keep you honest and to cheer you on. One thing's for sure; You'll never look at your relationships, behaviors, and decisions the same way after you've finished reading Ten Stupid Things Women Do to Mess Up Their Lives!

Dr. Laura's political views are right of right, but there is some downhome, common wisdom about women and their relationships in this book. All women need to read this book and take the message to heart. You are responsible for what happens to you and you can do things to make your life better.
