GREAT 1943 b&w 135 minute film - part of American entertainment (stage, screen and radio) support for US participation in WWII.
I can appreciate why it's part of Critics' Choice classic movie collection. I hadn't heard of it before, but I am VERY glad I watched it. It does have an almost comic book quick page turning shift in context and flavor. Lots of cameos by singers/dancers/actors, etc. and it does celebrate American diversity and even briefly acknowledges Chinese and Russian WWII participation, too.
The 135 minutes covers a lot of ground and features many 40's stars I couldn't recognize. Glad I used wikipedia's excellent article to find out things like the identity of the attractive short woman appearing in several sequences (Southern charmer Margaret Early) and lots more. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stage_Door_Canteen_(film)
