Add a CommentBoth Movies are excellent! If you enjoy action, excellent cinematography and lots of knuckle clenching scenes both are excellent, Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves are awesome in these movies-my humble opinion!
"Buckle your seat belts because this movie can't slow down!" That would've been my tagline if I was promoting the movie. Of the post-"Die Hard" action movies ("Passenger 57," "Under Siege," the "Die Hard" sequels), this was maybe the most entertaining. Sure, it's a little silly, but what do you expect? All the leads are solid and there's a good supporting cast, including Jeff Daniels, Joe Morton, and Alan Ruck (aka Cameron from "Ferris Bueller"). Dennis Hooper was the go to bad guy for a couple years ("Super Mario Bros.," "Waterworld"). Keanu did not return for the decidedly un-thrilling sequel, which was set on a boat. Directed by Jan de Bont, who also did "Twister" and "Speed 2." Don't miss the bus on this one!
I must disagree with the Canadian lass below, this was a fun film, and another in the entertaining action films starring Keanu Reeves.
SPEED manages to stay fast-paced, but it's full of the plot contrivances and far-fetched stunts for which action films are famous, an element of the genre that feels ridiculous in this film. Yes, it's exciting and, yes, the late great Hopper is delightful in his villainous role, but the writing and plot are so full of bologna that it is hard to take this film seriously. From the moment Jeff Daniels mutters, "Pop quiz," as he and his partner scale a rigged elevator shaft, you can tell just what kind of silliness you're in for. Sure, it passed the time, but once is more than enough for me, thanks.
Very well done movie I would recommend this movie for all to see. No fast forwarding on this one. B+ DVD
One of the best movies ever.
Thrilling, exciting, and a whole lot of fun
This movie launched Keanu's career. He did others, but this one was what put him on the map.
Good movie. Non-stop action.
Exciting and entertaining, keeps you on the edge of your seat!
