The story of a gang of discarded kids who virtually revolutionized skateboarding with an aggressive style, awe-inspiring moves and street smarts, and in the process, transforming youth culture forever. Captures the rise of the Zephyr skateboarding team from Venice's Dogtown, a tough "locals only" beach with a legacy of outlaw surfing, who used abandoned swimming pools to sharpen their skills.

A great commentary on a generation that played outside and created their own entertainment.

I had an Alva skateboard when I was 10 after graduating from a Cal-240. This film documents some of the evolution & personalities of skate culture & fully explains the transition from stand up riding to hands-on low riding to full-on aerial tricks.

I love this documentary about the guys who brought pool riding and vertical skateboarding to life. Great soundtrack and filmed beautifully. Makes you want to surf. Or skate. Or both.

Interesting documentary of the surf and skate scene in Santa Monica / Venice during the 70s. Cool footage of the era.
