An excellent mammoth tome at 1400 fine-print pages and no photos. 2200 artists and 14,000 album reviews by top music writers like Richie Unterberger. It has a 25 page section of Various Artist album reviews too, plus a 50 page appendix with essays and diagrams on different rock music genres and their histories. This is the best single general reference book available. Indispensible.
