More than a political thriller, more than murder mystery. Protagonist Louis Morgon ha been living in a French village (not in Provence, for a nice change) for about 15 years, since his sudden & inexplicable fall from grace in Washington, DC, where he had been one of the 'chosen few'. He is estranged from everyone in his own life & leads an idyllic existence for a 60-something villager. One morning he finds a corpse has been dumped on his doorstep, and with it comes his whole past, dumped on his doorstep & no longer in the past. Great character study, shows you can never really leave the past behind. Highly recommend it.
