Great Movie may be 4.5 star but does not tell the whole 11 books only the first 5.Very good besides that.

Jim carrey is amazingly amazing. Although his charachter doesn't seem to be of one from the book. He still nailed it. Funny and unfortunate. Must watch !

This could have been a much better film, had Count Olaf been cast by someone NOT known for comedy and known more for their cruelty. That was a devastating blow to an otherwise perfect film. I wish they would make movies for the rest of the books.

This copy of the DVD freezes in a few places and needs to be replaced.

A disappointing and misguided adaptation of a terrific book series. Jim Carrey is woefully miscast, as he often is. The recent Netflx series is a much better version.

This is a hilarious yet suspensful movie... Jim Carrey did a great job as Count Olaf. We own the movie, and have watched it numerous times! There's really no moral, so don't watch it if that's what you're looking for. But if you're only in for a fun, funny and adventurous movie, watch this!! In answer to your question, OverCookedCookies, yes. You probably should. It makes more sense that way. And for yours, MissLillieBear, the books are better because they have more. There are 13 of them, I think, and more detail. The movie only covers the first three books, and it doesn't actually stick very close to those. I've read the books plenty of times, and I like them better than the movie because of those reasons. I'd highly recommend that you read the books.

I love this movie so much! I wish they had more of them to continue throughout the book series! Jim Carrey did a great job as Count Olaf, I highly recommend this movie. It's like my 5th time watching it :-).

Count Olaf: The kitchen. I know what you're thinking: this place could use a little TLC. I trust you've all had your tetnus shots, Smallpox, Typhoid, Polio, Malaria.

Count Olaf: I must say, you are a gloomy looking bunch. Why so glum?
Klaus Baudelaire: ...Our parents just died.
Count Olaf: Ah yes, of course. How very, very awful. Wait! Let me do that one more time. Give me the line again! Quickly, while it's fresh in my mind!
Klaus Baudelaire: [uncertainly] Our parents just died?
Count Olaf: [gasps dramatically]
Sunny: [in baby talk] What a schmuck!
