I am pretty much a Tudor history buff and have watched other Great Courses programs about English history and read extensively. This course is a little dated-2003, but still very good. The professor is a little dry but not so much that I found it very hard to watch. He does focus on his imaginary in-studio audience rather than on looking at the camera and this took some getting used to. This course is best for someone with a fairly good background in the basics of Tudor history, and Henry VIII in particular. The lectures are very detailed and I enjoyed learning some things I had not known before. There is significant emphasis on the personalities of the major players. The course does lack for visuals-more pictures would have been really, really nice.

Somewhat dry in spots compared to romanticized versions of fiction and film. Lecturer really knows his subject and the culture and politics of the time.
