Pure joy watching this movie!
"Lt. Col. Frank Slade: I'm not finished! As I came in here, I heard those words, "Cradle of Leadership". Well, when the bough breaks, the cradle will fall. And it has fallen here. It has fallen. Makers of men, Creators of leaders. Be careful what kind of leaders you're producing here. I don't know if Charlie's silence here today is right or wrong. I'm not a judge or jury, but I can tell you this: He won't sell anybody out to buy his future! And that, my friends, is called integrity. That's called courage. Now that's the stuff leaders should be made of. Now I have come to the crossroads in my life. I always knew what the right path was. Without exception, I knew. But I never took it. You know why? It was too damn hard. Now here's Charlie. He's come to the crossroads. He has chosen a path. It's the right path. It's a path made of principle that leads to character. Let him continue on his journey. You hold this boy's future in your hands, committee. It's a valuable future. Believe me. Don't destroy it. Protect it. Embrace it. It's gonna make you proud one day, I promise you."

There's a lot I like about this movie, but I feel strongly that it should have been at least a half hour shorter. It is way too long for the story told. In addition to Al Pacino's Oscar win for Best Actor, Scent of a Woman is notable for a strong performance by Chris O'Donnell and a very early role for Philip Seymour Hoffman. The film is rated R for language.

A carefully scripted movie about the value of each person's life regardless of their challenges. The interaction between Pacino & O'Donnell, both the lighthearted and the darker moments, will not soon be forgotten. Each man displays their courage in different ways, but both are winners in the end. Definitely in my top 10 favorite movies of all time.

A fun game to play while watching this is to think of all the other movies that Al Pacino should have own an Oscar for.

One of the best pacino performances besides serpico, dog day afternoon and the first two godfather movies.

The story is very simple but the two leads al pacino and chris o donnell make it all work.

watch for a young phillip seymour hoffman, James rebhorn and bradley whitford before his west wing days.

don't miss it !!!!
