This was a good film. Cary Grant and Shirley Temple are for sure the best actors in the film. The plot is fun, but the ending is not necessarily satisfactory. The audience feels for Temple's character--it's as if her character is treated somewhat unfairly even thought it makes since. With everything having been said, this is still a nice older movie to watch on a family film night.

For me, "The Bachelor And The Bobby-Soxer" would have been a far more fun and entertaining movie to watch had its storyline focused in on giving the viewer a closer look at the teen angle in all of the "screwball" shenanigans.

I found that when the action was taking place at Sunset High, amongst all the teens, that's when my interest in this truly convoluted romance (pitting 2 sisters against each other) began to pick up significantly.

If you ask me, I'd say that the action-packed basketball game that took place between Sunset High and their fierce rivals was the absolute highlight of this film.

Anyway - After watching this vintage picture, I certainly wish that Hollywood had actually made more teen-oriented films from that era. 'Cause, believe me - The dramas that transpired between that age group definitely showed about 10x more entertainment potential than did the dry, stale and predictable nonsense that went on between all of the bickering adults.

Buoyed by an Oscar-winning screenplay and an all-star cast (Cary Grant, Myrna Loy, Shirley Temple) this screwball comedy of misunderstandings and misplaced affections is sure to make you smile, if not exactly laugh out loud. When a roguish artist is put in a precarious position by a lovestruck teenager her older sister, a circuit court judge, makes him an offer he can't refuse; pretend to date the young girl until she can get over her infatuation or else face a number of trumped up charges. Things get complicated however when the judge begins to have romantic feelings of her own and her wannabe boyfriend, an assistant D.A., decides enough is enough. A final showdown in a swank nightclub involving shouting matches and birthday cakes is truly funny!

I wish I had heard the speech Susan was given towards the end. And it was unbelievable that Margaret and Richard were able to rebuild their friendship so quickly.

FYI, Susan is Margaret's younger sister, not her daughter.

The best old movie I think I've ever seen. I love Shirley Temple, and she gives a great performance. Cary Grant's character is very dynamic - dashing and comedic!

Not a bad film, although a bit predictable it still has its funny moments- especially when Cary is trying to fend off Shirley.

Myrna Loy to Shirley Temple: "He says you're the first person in his class to define a triangle as two women in love with one man."
