Very unusual story with great characters. Great historical fiction. I feel like I'm right there. Can't wait for #3

The characterization is so strong in moving in this series of historical fiction. I can see and sense each character.

This is the second book from this author Gennifer Choldenko, featuring Moose Flannagan. Set in the 1930's, Moose and his family live on Alcatraz island where his Father is a prison guard. It's a close knit community at Alcatraz and everyone has their part to play to ensure the safety of the inhabitants of the island--even the infamous Al Capone!
