Watchable, if not exactly compelling. The point of the film was to take two different worldviews and let them play against the backdrop of a (slightly naughty) love affair. It did a fair job with that, but yes, it did drag at times as the male lead insisted on ramming his political views down the throat of his only mildly interested partner. In real life, things would NOT have played out this way; it would most likely have ended as a one-nighter.

likeable charactors-slow paced but intriguing nevertheless

A beautiful film. Nice images of San Francisco with intelligent, thoughtful discussions between the characters. The pace is slow, but the acting is magnificent and the characters and topics are really interesting.

Pathetic. Two young black people in San Fran have a an affair for a day or so. Really, really boring.

Fair - Medicine for Melancholy (2008) 88 min. Medicine could’ve been a really good film if it steered away from trying to set the mood all through the film. At some point, the plot has to take precedence over the set-up. And that’s where Medicine fails. But despite the drawn out unimportant sequences, the film is rather fascinating watching a couple who became acquainted after a one night stand. It’s the next day that the couple begin to discover each other. Tracey Heggins is wonderful in this film – her facial expressions say it all as she tries to decipher what to do with this guy.
