Maybe if I had read this before watching Alan Ball's HBO series my review would be different but compared to the second season of the show this book is so 'surface-y'. The depth of characters, suspenseful action, the steamysteamyness, it comprises maybe 10% of what the show has to offer. I liked the first one better than this one but eventually I'll see if I like the third.

Exciting and compelling, through and through. My only gripe: for awhile it felt like a book within a book.

I like this 2nd book in the series. I felt it served the purpose of expanding the universe some by introducing a lot of characters I believe we will see again. I would give it more stars if it were more suspenseful, but for a fun, supernatural read this was what I expected.

I really enjoyed the 1st Sookie book and was looking forward to the 2nd in the series. I have to say that it was just average to me. My favourite books to read are mysteries and I expected to be pulled into this mystery more. It just wasn't catchy enough for me. I'll try the 3rd book to see if there's any improvement.

Read one before this - enjoyed. This one - not so much. Same idea, so a little stale.

The two main story lines don't flow together all that well, but still make for a fun read.

Worth reading for the amount of new characters and Supe world expansion.

Not as good as the first one. I thought the end plot seemed rushed and an afterthought to the rest of the book. I guess I'm going to finish what I have started and read all of them, but I would not rate these books on a 'must read' scale.

An entertaining read on a rainy weekend, but not something that I would recommend or rate as a "must-read."

Entertaining, though the biting and blood gross me out a bit. A light read. It would be better if it wasn't like a Harlequin romance with vampires.
