An uproarious tale told in alternating voices follows the stories of a pet shop owner and a curmudgeon who find themselves on the run from police, terrorists, and a pizza chain mascot. One character, Philip Horkman is a happy man, the owner of a pet store called The Wine Shop, and on Sundays a referee for kids' soccer. The other, Jeffrey Peckerman is the sole sane person in a world filled with goddamned jerks and morons, and he's having a really bad day. The two of them are about to collide in a swiftly escalating series of events that will send them running for their lives, pursued by the police, soldiers, terrorists, subversives, bears, and a man dressed as Chuck E. Cheese.

laughed like a fool reading this. a fun very fictional story!

A really funny novel. Ok, the plot is improbable, but who cares. The characters speak like real people. Saved it to read at home because if I would read it on the subway I might be mistaken for a nutter let out of the asylum.

What a wild ride. Funny to being absurd. Side splitting reading. The first part is best. The end part is weak, mostly because of US Politics. But the Sarah Palin incident, gross as it may be, is the cherry on the Sunday. The craziest book I ever read.

If you liked Big Trouble and Tricky Buisiness, you'll like this one too.

A beach read. Improbable and hilarious. A chance meeting between two opposite characters ... and things go horribly wrong. Each chapter alternates between the views and actions of each character.

Laugh out loud funny book written in the Dave Barry style his followers love. The plot line was absolutely ridiculous but it kept the pages turning. If your are offended by off-color humor and language, you may want to by-pass this one

Very funny book. Every absurd plot twist seems to only provoke the authors to come up with an even more absurd plot twist as quickly as possible. Two very funny minds writing a very funny book.

Wow this book is crazy funny and once you get into it you can't put it down. Alot of stupid humor but great book for normal people who don't get offended by every little thing. Will have you laughing out loud almost the whole way through. The characters are insane really insane actually but a great and extremely different read.

A lot of bathroom humour which is not in the least appealing.

This has to be one of the funniest books I've read in a while. It's pretty out there as far as the story is concerned, but but Dave Barry is as funny as ever. I've never read any of Alan Zwiebel's writing before, but I nay have to check some more of it out after reading this.Parts of this book are a little crude, so if you are easily offended, you may want to skip it, but otherwise a great read.
