I might have to create a new category for this book: Creeptastic. The main character, William Heming, narrating this story directly to us and it's a powerful, persuasive voice. It's also a matter-of-fact, pragmatic, yet sometimes romantic or defensive voice compelling us to continue reading. From his young days, when his mother left and his father also left, in a way, William was a keen observer of other people's lives. Sometimes he was satisfied with observing, but other times, he liked to set something in motion to see what would happen. His penchant for collecting information and objects from others got him kicked out of the boarding school and right into the perfect business setting for his disposition--a real estate agent. He's still there now, surrounded by his keys from all the houses he's sold, and all the information and tokens he's collected over the years.
