100 Days of Happiness drew me in from the first page. Written in the conversational tone of a friend telling a story over a cup of coffee, the reader is introduced to Lucio, an endearing character despite his less than admirable traits. As Lucio reveals in the first few pages, he has terminal cancer and has 100 days to live - give or take a few. Through Lucio's journey, Brizzi reminds readers of our own mortality. Rather than feeling preachy it is an inspiration to see Lucio develop from a mediocre father and husband to a man who really understands his family and goes to great lengths to be what they need. Every chapter is a reminder that while we may have more than the 100 granted to Lucio - our days here are numbered. Brizzi offers a wake up call to take stock of our own lives and think about what's important - he even leaves a few pages to jot down your own notes on the matter.
