While not as good as her father, Anne has written a very nice supplement to his work. I do miss Joe Leaphorn, who appears mainly as a cameo or touchstone character. Perhaps his healing will allow him a greater role. Her development of Bernadette is a nice touch, and Jim Chee continues to be a mainstay of the books. This novel, however, is not as good as her first. The story line gets a little far fetched at the end, allowing her escape. Hopefully, further development of the series will improve.
