Number 19 in the series many will know by now whether or not they like the adventures of Commissary Brunetti. For those unfamiliar with Donna Leon, this is a book about a detective and his case. though unlike many other detectives, he is not some lone wolf dealing with substance issue, miserable a d falling in love with women who will die, he is a Venetian man who has a wonderful relationship with his wife, and it is their relationship and thoughtful, witty exchanges that draw many readers back again to each novel. I was personally delighted to note that in discussion of corruption a number of ecological issues were noted (landfill waste, pollution) it will be interesting to see how many other novels this conversayion will seep into. Many have mentioned how the story is solved and that they find it absurd. I don't know... would it make more sense to a Venetian? I don't care a CSI type of investigation is not what I am looking for when I read the delightful and thought provoking Donna Leon.
