Fair - Lebanon (2009) [Foreign - Hebrew] 93 min. This war drama set during the first Lebanese War of 1982 loses the viewer after the first 30 minutes because of the mundaness of what's before us. The film presents some harrowing images of maimed bodies as it elaborates on its "war is hell" theme. I found the film incredibly repetitive as the team inside an Israeli tank scope the area as paratroopers search for dissidents in the village they're occupying. I felt like this thematic approach to war has been done countless times before and all I was exposed to was extreme violence for the sake of eliciting angst in the viewer. Strong reservations against this film though the film does deliver in terms of atmosphere and acting.
