Trade War in US History

While some trade war tactics have led to revolutions (Boston Tea Party), others have failed miserably (Smoot-Hawley Act). Here’s a look at eight U.S. trade wars that made an impact—for better or for worse—on our country: the Boston Tea Party; the Smoot-Hawley Act of 1930; the Chicken Tariff War of the 1960s; the 1987 Trade War with Japan; Canada-U.S. Lumber Wars; the 1993 Banana Wars; the 2002 Steel Tariff; and the Ongoing Trade War with China.
