On Their Frontlines. The Lives of Japanese War Brides. Vol. 1On Their Frontlines. The Lives of Japanese War Brides. Vol. 1

"A story of resilience, identity, & queer yearning set amidst the devastation of postwar Japan. In the Shitaya ward of Tokyo, young romance blossoms between Yoriko and Haru. But when war arrives in 1945, the evacuation splits them apart. Years later, they return to pick up the pieces in a peaceful but tumultuous new ear. As their lives spiral down separate paths, they each marry American GIs to get by, while still hoping to one day reunite. The manga debut of Marina Lisa Komiya is a powerful work that explores the queer ghosts of the past, Japanese American identity, and the morality of occupation."--Back cover.
